Your ear constantly produces wax to keep itself clear or debris and to protect against infection. Small amounts of this wax can build up inside the opening to your hearing aid which cen reduce its effectiveness as well as possibly causing your ears to feel itchy or sweaty. By including regular replacement of your wax filters into your maintenance routine for your Phonak or Unitron hearing aids you can make sure that your hearing aids stay at their most comfortable, and keep your hearing functioning at its best.

How Often Should I Replace My Wax Filters?

Monthly replacement of your wax filters is recommended for most people, keeping their hearing aids working well and their ears clean and hygenic. If you are prone to producing more wax than most people, or spend time in warm, humid places, you may need to replace your wax filters more often. Regardless of your normal maintenence routine, if the sound quality from your hearing aids reduces we would always recommend replacing the wax filter and dome.
